Welcome to Greater Praise of Deliverance

Bishop Dr. Tyrone E. Johnson was born on June 16, 1971, to the late Deacon Cleveland and Elder Henrietta Johnson. He is currently serving as the Senior Pastor & Founder of Greater Praise of Deliverance Church of Worship known as GPD.  The hand of the Lord is on this ministry. The Lord has birthed this ministry through our Pastor.

 

He has ordained 5 ministers (Executive Pastor Dr. Jay L. Harris, Elder Dr. Henrietta R. Johnson, Associate Pastor Katina D. Johnson, Elder Maria Palmer, and Elder Ursula D. Stone) and 3 Deacons (Deacon Victor Rucker, Deacon Larry Smith, and Deacon Ronald Palmer). He has licensed 3 ministers (Minister Cynthia Wright,  Minister Queen Stone, and Minister Markisha R. Johnson).

 

Bishop Johnson served as the Senior Pastor of Carver Road Christian Church from November 2012 through February 2015. Under the leadership of Bishop Johnson, the church grew from 20 to 70 members and the ministerial staff grew from 2 to 9 ministers. He licensed 1 minister and ordained a deacon and a minister. The ministry continued to flourish under his leadership spiritually and financially. Dr. Johnson added a Youth Pastor and Youth Minister to lead the youth. The church added a new Facebook, church website, church computer, redrawing of lines in the parking lot, new windows for the front church doors, new air conditioner unit for the sanctuary, and new carpet for the church.

 

Bishop Johnson said yes to his call into the ministry in 2001 under the Leadership of his pastor, the late Dr. J. W. Flake of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church after hearing a dynamic message from Evangelist Paula Pearce, an Associate Minister of the Church entitled, “If God put it on you, then you can handle it.”

 

He served as an Associate Minister at the church until he was called to Carver Road Christian Church to Pastor. He served in many capacities of the ministry from video and radio ministry, President of Pastor and First Lady Anniversary Committee, President of the Inspirational Choir, Choir director, and Youth Advisor. 

 

He received his Bachelor of Theology and Master of Theology from Covenant Bible College. Bishop Johnson received his earned Doctorate Degree in Theology from St. Thomas Christian University and was ordained by The Guilford Educational Missionary Baptist Association. Bishop Johnson was consecrated as a Bishop in the Lord’s church on August 8, 2024, and elevated to the State Bishop of North Carolina under Apostle Timothy L. Warren and the Covenant Global Consortium.  

The Lord has continued to bless him to preach throughout the East Coast. He has had 2 Pastors (Pastor Pansy, and Pastor Hale) and their churches under his spiritual leadership. He is a man of vision whose life embraces destiny and purpose. He also serves his community as a second term elected City Councilman in his city. He remains humble and has a deep hunger to win souls for Christ and is committed to serving God, dedicated to following wherever God may lead, and excited as God continues to do “A Brand New Thing” within his life and ministry.
